'While EEL as a collective has involved people from diverse parts of the world from it's inception, our lives all first connected in Cornwall, or “the end of the world” as some might call it. This is where EEL was born, and where we have grown a new scene out of almost nothing. For us it has been a home, and the place where EEL became something real and tangible - a familiar place where we danced and gathered around the monolithic stones. “men an tol” - a new compilation album from eel - is a celebration of the Cornish creative community and electronic music scene. Named after the ancient standing stones of men-an-tol, the stones were once believed to cure ailments, ward off witchcraft and see into the future. Many of us have found inspiration in the folklore here, putting the spirit of that into our music.

These 14 tracks will take you on a journey through experimental electronica of all shapes and sizes. An aural representation of the rugged coastlines, picturesque countryside and euphoric escapism of the alternative night life - from the dark natural ambiences found in the caves of the north coast, like gaping maws faced toward the treacherous sea, to a rave in the woods where the air hums with the electricity of distorted kick drums and subterranean bass. “men an toll” is an insight into the authentic and original sounds of contemporary electronic music made in, and inspired by, Cornwall.
