Hot Heros - Nuotiosavua (2021) Hi-Res

Tampere-based singer-songwriter Janne Laurila became known to lovers of Finnish pop music as the bright front character of the Office Building band, which operated on both sides of the millennium. The band, which moved with English pop rock with indie and Americana spices, broke up in 2005, after which the music was served with the more straightforward band Laurila.

In 2009, the Finnish debut Golden Points was released under the name Janne Laurila, after which Laurila has toured and recorded with Janne Laurila & Tuhlaajapojat. After the Prodigal Sons, who have been active for a decade since the beginning of the 2010s, Laurila has at the same time matured a joint record with the freejazz band Hot Heros and honed his solo album with Mikko “Silli” Siltanen, known from the Blasters, Talmud Beach and Amur.

Hot Heros double bassist Ville Rauhala also played in Predator Boys, so the route to collaborating with a successful jazz trio is easy. With Siltanen, Laurila has made a general genius in cultural culture, Hot Line. Now they hear their musical handprint, which is also convincing.

The fact that albums released from different record companies are released at the same time means, at the very least, that they are easily treated side by side in the reviews and set against each other as comparisons - which is unfair in the sense that one is jazz and the other more rock. However, they contain many other kinship-strengthening genes in addition to Laurila's voice and song pen.

In addition to Laurila's song, the clearest confluence of the records is their own version of the Conspiracy Theory. With Campfire Smoke (Playground, 2021) with Hot Heros, it is interpreted as a pretty lounge, a sunny, relaxed jazz scene with phono solos and light swings. On the solo album Janne, come here already! (You still play it, 2021) Again, the same song is keyed in lightly and pounded stripped. The name of the Hot Heros album, Nuotiosuua, can be found on the Chaplin song of the solo album.
