We’ve heard some absolutely amazing albums from big names, rising stars, and new artists alike. So much in fact, it’s gonna be a daunting task to try to narrow down your year-end top (insert number) lists.

Something may have slipped through the cracks in this slew of great music, Sturgill Simpson has been (and I quote) CUTTIN’ THAT GRASS.

Near the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sturgill ran a fundraising campaign on his website through his “Dick Daddy Survival School” merch and ended up raising a ton of money. Now, Whiskey Riff might have been the only media outlet that promoted the DDSS merch, but either way, Stu promised us some music as a result. And now, we’re looking at not one, but TWO bluegrass albums this year.

Not long after that, he posted some videos on his Instagram story of him and the band in the studio, and revealed that he would be recording a large chunk of his catalog bluegrass style.

Earlier today, he posted another clip of him and longtime drummer Miles Miller, with the caption “Smokin’ grass with @themilesmiller” and the bluegrass cut of his tune “The Storm” can be heard in the background.
