VA - The Last Days Of Disco [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (1998)

First and foremost, this soundtrack instructs that having the middle name "Champagne" would be pretty sweet. Beyond that, with the reign of "dancepunk," "electroclash," and some of the more esoteric forms of dance music of the 1970s and early 1980s undergoing a critical reappraisal this decade, it's only natural that a lot of commercial disco from the era is being scrubbed and enjoyed anew. This compilation features a lot of hits from the era that would probably have been at home on a K-Tel release at one time, but their association in this form with a nifty Whit Stillman (of Metropolitan renown) film cannot hurt things. Enough kitch value here to throw this on at a party for the Chic, Andrea True Connection and some of the more obscure singles, or to just mine for samples, which appears to have been quite popular in recent years for a lot of these tracks. 1998 Sony Music Soundtrax/WORK release.
