“Lisa’s theme” is an original riddim created by Inyaki Yarritu, the mastermind behind Basque Dub Foundation (BDF). This is the fourth creation from Basque Dub Foundation to be released on Heartical Label, the previous ones were the critically-acclaimed “Ministerio Del Dub”, “Freedom Rockers” and “The Assault”.

This new release gathers 10 unreleased vocals and 2 dub versions. The truly international line-up features artists from Jamaica, England, Belgium, Israel and South Africa!

The veteran singer Carlton Livingston (Studio One, Channel One) teams up with the Jamaican queen Lady Ann on the infectious “Handle we”, Carlton also did a full solo version featured on the one-riddim album. Joseph Cotton (formerly known as Jah Walton) rides the riddim with style on “Pon the attack”, so does his fellow Jamaican DJ Papa Kojak bringing his original rub-a-dub style on “West gone black”, sounding as fresh as in the late 70s when he used to dominate the charts together with his partner Mama Liza. David Jahson is a Jamaican veteran singer, we already had the pleasure to reissue his classic song “Clean Rasta Dread” (1975) on our label 15 years ago, now it’s time for a new heartfelt song dedicated to all the ghetto people. The great late Ranking Trevor (R.I.P 1960-2012) voiced the rhythm in 2006, at the time he teamed up with his deejay sparring partners Jah Mikey (famous for deejaying Papa Roots aka Roots Socialist) and Daddy Shark (from Youthman Promotion & Killamanjaro fame) to deliver this three the hard way, full up of rub a dub class !

The three last songs on the rhythm were all voiced by artists coming out of Jamaica, proving again that Reggae music is truly gone “outernational”: Ranking Levy aka Papa Lord is the talented mic man of My Lord Sound, based in Israel, while Zoro is a gifted artist originating from South Africa, last but not least, the Belgian veteran MC Original Uman teams up for the second time with the Italian songstress Valentina to deliver another scorcher in French. To round it up, you can enjoy two dub cuts, “Dub A Lisa” & “Dub A Lisa (Take 2)”, courtesy of Basque Dub Foundation and Darren Jamtone who also mixed the whole selection... Just let “Lisa’s Theme” rock you now!
