Thomas Rückert - A Rose E'er Blooming (2020)

With “A Rose E`er Blooming” the jazz pianist Thomas Rückert dives into melodies like “Es ist ein Rot sprung” or “Maria durch ein Dornwald” in a very cautious and never heard way.
In an improvisational manner, he congenially interweaves the original melodies with various genres such as jazz, gospel, folk, classical western counterpoint and also Indian and African traditional music. They merge wonderfully with the spirit of the god-worshiping composers of bygone days, as he approaches the old spiritual melodies very carefully on this album, but at the same time creates something very touching and completely new.
