Bernhard Röthlisberger, Nils Kohler, Ernesto Molinari, Benjamin Engeli - Swiss Clarinet Music (2020) [Hi-Res]

This survey explores clarinet music by Swiss composers from the mid-19th century to the music of today. August Walter’s Fantasie und Capriccio is rooted in Romanticism, while Othmar Schoeck manages to combine ragtime elements with German modernism in his Sonata for bass clarinet and piano. In contemporary works, Jean-Luc Darbellay has enriched the clarinet’s tonal spectrum in his revised version of Sentences, and David Philip Hefti employs multiphonics that evoke medieval polyphony. Including works for one, two or three clarinets, this album showcases no fewer than six different instruments from the clarinet family.
