Country singer-songwriting talent Catherine Britt returns with her anticipated new album, 'Boneshaker.' To some people - Tony Abbott, Andr Rieu or the Catholic Church, for instance - change is something to fear, even something to fight. For others, evolution is exhilarating, a process to be embraced and savoured, an essential part of living. Multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Catherine Britt might never call the shots in Canberra or the Vatican, but she is committed to building on the past in order to move forward - passionately, unflinchingly. "I'd never make the same album twice," Britt says matter-of-factly. "When I get an artist I love's new record, I don't like it if it's the same as another one - I love when they do something brave or different. And I try to live up to what my heroes are doing in that respect." After much searching, Britt and her team decided that the person to add that fresh element was Seattle-based producer Ryan Hadlock, who has collaborated with artists as diverse as The Strokes, Foo Fighters, the Lumineers, Brandi Carlisle and Vance Joy. While Hadlock and his Seattle crew may have had a big influence on the sound of 'Boneshaker,' the defining feature of the album is the same honest, earthy songwriting that has won Britt a host of awards and accolades in the past. "They're my songs, my voice, I'm still playing the guitar," says Catherine. "It's the same elements that start every record, and that's the most important thing to me." As a title track for the new album, 'Boneshaker' couldn't be more fitting. Both record and song reveal Catherine Britt like you've never heard her before - darker, grittier, but still very much Catherine Britt.
