Andrew Gutauskas - Look Out! (2020) Hi Res

An American musician with Lithuanian roots, judging by his last name, Andrew Gutauskas plays the baritone saxophone, writes music for films, makes arrangements and teaches. Gutauskas is a 2018 Grammy laureate (music for the short film Baby Won't You Please Come Home, participates in many projects - both with large and chamber ensembles: Charlie Rosen's Broadway Big Band & 8-Bit Big Band, the Dan Pugach Nonet, Kyle Saulnier's Awakening Orchestra, Lucas Pino's No-Net Nonet, Manuel Valera's New Cuban Express Big Band, Miho Hazama's M_Unit, etc.

Look Out! - Gutauskas' second album and its title hints at a genetic link to Andrew's first work, EP Look Up !, also released on Outside in Music in 2017. The name of this has its own, special meaning. “When was the last time you listened to an album, watched a movie or TV show, read a book, walked down the street, ate something delicious, picked apples, or chatted with friends without looking at your phone?” - asks Andrew: “We are on the verge of abandoning reality, beautiful and complete, for the sake of one that is strewn with anxiety and fear. Look Out! recorded by a line-up ranging from a trio to a quartet, featuring bassist Josh Paris and drummer Chris Smith, who are familiar to Gutauskas, and trombonists Robert Edwards and Willie Applewhite as guests. Andrew wrote all the music for the album, focusing on these performers: "Like any friendship is based on sincerity, I wrote music with these musicians in mind and believing that they would put all their professionalism into my music to create a collective sound ..."

Happened! Undoubtedly, it worked! Look Out! - a very nice album, with catchy melodies and even a slight touch of musical humor in the solo parts of the baritone saxophone. The duets of two low-voiced instruments - a baritone saxophone and a trombone - also look great. Of the eight tracks on the album, seven are by Andrew Gutauskas, and another is a great surprise for Game of Thrones fans: the music by Ramin Javadi arranged by Andrew for the jazz ensemble, which is the main theme of the series, in which he plays the soprano sax. I listened to this arrangement and the entire album with sincere pleasure, which is what I wish for you!
