With “Round the Houses”, Broom Bezzums have created a catchy and danceable, good-mood Christmas pop song. In the style of a traditional folk song, this track surprises with a driving disco beat, funky bass line, crisp drums and brass, combined with a perfect arrangement of violin, mandola and acoustic guitar. With powerful harmonies in the intro and choruses, they play on the typical British “drunken Christmas singalong” found in the pubs and on the streets.
“You Know Yourself” is in a more reflective mood, while “All in the Giving” is a very intimate song that promotes more understanding in the world.
The new “Winterman” album is rounded off with “Blessing”, a modern Irish-American spiritual. It is based on the famous traditional blessing poems from Ireland, sung by Eileen Healy and accompanied in perfect harmony by Andrew and Mark. The Bezzums blend the bluesy flair of the vocals and guitars with fragments of an Irish fiddle reel. Double bass and shuffling drums complete the arrangement.
