Expressing his own cultural identity, guitarist Thibaut Garcia combines Rodrigo's archetypally Spanish 'Concierto de Aranjuez' with a declaration of l'esprit français: Alexandre Tansman's neoclassical 'Musique de cour', inspired by the court of Louis XIV. Garcia's heritage is Spanish, but he is French, born in the city of Toulouse, where this album was recorded with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and the young British conductor Ben Glassberg. It is completed by four solo pieces by Regino Sáinz de la Maza, the guitarist who gave the premiere of the 'Concierto de Aranjuez' in 1940.

Many people may praise this Aranjuez but I'm not satisfied :p
Not enough just high skill and high sense !
I think this concerto is imperfect between solo and orchestra.
Holding orchestra down like Xianji Liu or playing differently from orchestra like Marco Socías or Paco de Lucía makes it good, while meeting each other halfway makes it bad, I believe.
Other works are excellent !!

You have a point here: Listening with headphones, I blame the recording engineers; exaggerated close-miking, guitar is placed way too much in the foreground... Not a recording as a whole.

Listen to John Wiliams, who in my opinion has the best recording of this concerto.

It's an arrangement and not the entire but I wish this kind of vitality even in original Aranfuez :)
