The fifth volume in Classics’ chronological survey of jump blues pianist Amos Milburn’s complete recorded work, this one concentrates on sides he released between January 1952 and June 1953, and includes three of his most famous drinking songs, “Let Me Go Home Whiskey,” “Thinking and Drinking,” and the now iconic “One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer,” as well as fine versions of “Squeeze My Blues Away,” “Long, Long Day,” “Stormy Weather,” and Lil Green’s “Why Don’t You Do Right." They didn’t call it rock & roll back then, but they do now. ~Steve Leggett
