Long before they became established as America's favourite married singing duo, STEVE LAWRENCE and EYDIE GORMÉ pursued separate solo careers, stretching way back to the early 1950s.

This unique compilation comprises all their early solo hits, to the end of 1962, immediately prior to their first major success as a duo in 1963 with 'I Want To Stay Here' which sadly couldn't be featured here.

Steve Lawrence is represented herein with twenty sides, ranging from his first chart entry 'Poinciana' in 1952 to his biggest-ever success ten years later, the chart-topping 'Go Away Little Girl', punctuated by massive hits like 'The Banana Boat Song', 'Party Doll', 'Pretty Blue Eyes', 'Footsteps' and 'Portrait Of My Love'.

Eydie had twelve hits during this period, including 'Mama, Teach Me To Dance', 'Love Me Forever', 'You Need Hands', 'Yes My Darling Daughter' and 'Blame It On The Bossa Nova' (of which 10 appear here).

Although all thirty of these sides made the U.S. and/or U.K. charts, several are impossible to find elsewhere on CD, making this a must-have purchase for fans of the duo.
