"Jaco Pastorius is widely acknowledged as the man who forever changed the way the bass guitar is played and viewed. Jaco thought like an orchestrator as he played, dealing in advanced concept of harmony, counterpoint and texture," wrote Jaco biographer Bill Milkowski in his comprehensive notes to Punk Jazz.

This 2CD set contains more than two dozen tracks, totaling over 2 1/2 hours of music, on two diverse, brilliant, career-spanning discs.
Included are the first commercial release of three rarities: the 1968 home demo "The Chicken," recorded in Jaco's bedroom, "Amelia," captured live in 1972 with Wayne Cochran's C.C. Riders and 1982's "Good Morning Anya," from the never-finished, often bootlegged Holiday For Pans. It also features the all-time classic "Birdland" off the album Heavy Weather, from Jaco's stellar stint with Weather Report.
Other highlights are Jaco guesting on tracks by artists including Joni Mitchell, Michel Colombier, Pat Metheny, The Brian Melvin Trio and more.
