They continue to be sent to us with waves, the CDs of Italians that we, who live not that far from Italy, have never or never heard about, unless you happened to meet them on a city trip or on holiday. That could have happened to you with this Marcello Parrilli, for example: the man is Florentijn and with this album he is already in his fifth outing. His record career began a little over a dozen years ago, when he was just past thirty. The fact that he waited so long to release something may have to do with the fact that he first completed his classical training (violin and piano) and established himself as a music therapist, but anyway, when he started it, he meant it right away. very serious. He started on a real trilogy about “being”: “Identità”, “Elogio alla Diversità” and “Mendicanti di Umanità”, titles that immediately show that the man has “something” to say and dares to think. .

In between he also released a record with piano pieces by his hand and now there is this new record, which you can also classify under a theme. All eight songs are about Love. A few of the songs are reworkings of songs that were already on older records of the man: “Notte di San Lorenzo” closed at the time “Elogio alla Diversità” and “Cercando la Luna” was on “Identità”, and the other songs are the result of working very hard, scrapping a lot and being very strict with yourself. Then you only have the really valuable stuff and there is no lack of that on this record.

The songs are cast in pretty solid rock arrangements, so that the voice of Mercello -ze lies between that of Rick De Leeuw and that of Thé Lau can fully come into its own. This leads to a short album, which is very pleasant to listen to and played very well together by Parrilli himself (piano, synthesizer, guitar and ukulele), Gianfilippo Boni (keys) Lorenzo Forti (bass) and Fabrizio Morganti (drums). The latter two form a rhythm section, which is requested in Italy by people like Laura Pausini and Irene Grandi, certainly not by the least.

Together they put down a very nice album, which may not make you very happy, because De Liefde has quite a few faces: you can long for it, dream of it, sometimes Love is “consumed”, sometimes not, it is lost or fades out, it is sometimes fleeting and sometimes once-only, but in any case it always leaves a feeling of eternity in man. The record title refers in turn to the new forms of loneliness in the times of Twitter and Facebook: the more means of communication, the less real contact with people and thus “love” is in danger. I said it before: this person already dares to think about things. For that reason alone he deserves to be heard!
