Wolfgang Lackerschmid - DAKTARIMBA (2020)

With their first release D'Afrique, the band Daktarimba presents a fascinatingly personal album. The band name Daktarimba alludes with a little wink to the US-American series Daktari from the 1960s, and merges this Swahili word for doctor with the instrument marimba, which is characteristic for the sound of the band

The same applies to music: here experiences, linguistic and ethnic differences merge as a matter of course into a homogeneous whole. Daktarimba are Walter Lang on piano, Wolfgang Lackerschmid on marimba and Njamy Sitson on vocals and percussion. The vocal parts were written by Njamy Sitson on medumba, a language from Western Cameroon.
