“Stories from Stompin’Willie” is a contemporary jazz CD project. The idea for "Stories" grew out of my many musical friendships garnered over several years. Specifically my long time relationship with keyboard legend George Duke, who nicknamed me, Stompin’ Willie. This project features many old friends like Jeff Lorber, Jimmy Haslip, Karen Briggs, Michael Lington, Tom Schott, Ndugu Chancelor, Byron Miller, and John Beasley. Not to forget my longtime “boss” Patrice Rushen, and the entire Rickey Minor Band of American Idol and Tonight Show fame. Also helping on the project are new friends like violin sensation Nicole Neely and recoding engineers, Erik Zobler, who has worked with George Duke for over two decades and Craig Burbidge, who mixed my first #1 radio single “It’s a Shame”. I hope you enjoy listening to this music as much I enjoyed making it. Lord Bless You Real Good!-Paul Jackson Jr.
