Karima Walker & Katy Kirby - Among Horses V (2020)

A farm in the middle of nowhere. Sixty Spanish horses. And two songwriters who do not know each other, strangers with the same destiny... The critically acclaimed songwriters Karima Walker (Tucson, USA) and Katy Kirby (Nashville, USA) were dropped in a retirement home for old horses by the Barcelona based label Son Canciones. They were given one week to get to know each other and write and record five new songs.

"Right By You" is the first single of the EP "Among Horses V". After the success of the four previous "Among Horses" releases, Karima Walker & Katy Kirby's EP seeks to find its place in the record collection of everyone who loves unhurried music and lo-fi indie folk for a lazy day in the sun. Only solar power was used in the making of this song. The song was recorded mostly in one take and without special effects. Straight from the soil into your headphones.

Karima Walker is an experimental musician from Tucson, Arizona. She has been making music in the middle of the desert since 2012. Her debut album "Hands In Our Names" (Orindal Records) received unanimous praise from both press and public. Pitchfork was struck by its "unusual lushness", GoldFlakePaint called it "wonderfully intriguing" and Wake The Deaf named it their favorite album of the year.

Katy Kirby hatched in Houston on Good Friday 24 years ago, and has been playing music almost just as long. She moved to Nashville, where she recorded her debut album, to be released in 2021 by Keeled Scales. After her shows at South By Southwest in 2019, public and press agreed that Katy Kirby is definitely the singer-songwriter to follow in the new decade.
