A Hungarian pianist whose links with Chopin extend from preparing editions of his music to performing his works on historical instruments, Alex Szilasi s awards include Best Soloist from Hungarian Radio (1991), the Ferenc Kölcsey Cultural Prize (2005), and Classical Musician of the Year from both the Hungarian Academy (2007) and the Hungarian classical and jazz magazine Gramofon (2008). This is the Fryderyk Chopin Institute s first release of Szilasi s recordings of Chopin nocturnes with the unique sound of a Pleyel upright piano from 1847. Recorded at the Witold Lutos awski Concerto Studio of Polish Radio, Warsaw, February 2012.
