Frank Gratkowski - Dance Hall Stories (2020)

Dance Hall Stories was recorded on Simon Nabatov's home ground in Loft Cologne with his co-conspirators Frank Gratkowski on reeds and Dominik Mahnig on drums. This recording registers the ongoing work in the shared field of improvised music. Half of the pieces are performed by the duo Gratkowski — Nabatov, a well documented unit (CD “Mirthful Myths” ). For the rest of the program Mahnig joins in, turning it into the first-time trio format. The titles of the pieces help to perceive the programme as a collection of scenes playing out at the virtual Dance Hall.
