David Longoria - Mood (2020)

Several Icons of jazz join David Longoria for this modern cool Jazz album. Freda Payne, Barbara Morrison, Promise Marks, Poncho Sanchez and Marc Antonelli all bring their own special performances to this romantic collection. The cool jazz abounds when David's muted trumpet weaves around each guest vocalist. David sings the trumpeter's traditional classic I Can't Get Started and plays a suitably melancholy improvised solo on his open trumpet. David's original song No Turning Back brings his Latin feel , complimented by the flamenco guitar work of Carl Strand and Grammy winning percussionist Poncho Sanchez. Freddie Hubbard's iconic lyrical song Little Sunflower brings out the melodic bature of David;'s trumpet improvisation, surrounded by Doug Perkins on guitar, Rique Pantoja on piano, Anton Jakimenko on clarinet, Carlos Cuba on Bass and Kip Webster on drums. All together this is an album you will want to enjoy over a romantic dinner or a chill evening at home. And it's still great the rest of the day as well.
