hannon Clark & the Sugar intertwine the heart felt raw emotion of a singer-songwriter, the somber story telling of a country artist and the grit of a southern soul band. Drawing inspiration from Marvin Gaye to Willie Nelson, this Americana/ Alt-Country group hails from a small rural farming community in Greenville, Ohio and this “family band” plays to a dynamic range of audiences and draws on their southern soul and country heritage. Shannon Clark & the Sugar have worked with an eclectic set of artists from Hank Williams Jr & Brooks & Dunn to Paramore & Hawthorne Heights, and are currently working on their follow up album to the critically acclaimed “Carry Me”.

Shannon Clark and The Sugar is led by Shannon Perry Clark, who is described as soulful as Al Green, and as hard-driving as John Fogerty, and connects the energy of both genres with power and authority. Married to the drummer Brittany Clark they fell in love playing music in the early 2000’s in the Band Everybody Else Wins which received regional attention playing grungy pop rock on the Warped Tour the band gained a sizable following. After their first child, Brittany went off the road and the band split up. Clark did a number of solo acts as well as played with the band Goodnight LA from Akron,Oh and was slowly gaining national recognition… that all came to a halt when the Clarks lost there 2nd daughter to a rare heart condition. Clark quit the band and went on a hiatus and didn’t write or perform for several years. In this time reflection was needed.

In 2015 Shannon & Brittany decided they needed to express and create music again and pay respects to the love and loss they had felt both losing a child and grandparents in that same year, they went in to the studio with legendary producer Jeff Smith (James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Glen Campbell) and recorded the Album “Carry Me”, a long cry from the days of Punk Rock, they knew they had something special as they reflected on family roots and the music that spoke to their hearts.

As the group evolved from a 2 pc to a 5 pc, they have slowly gained momentum and regional attention and now re-focused the group as a “Family Band” encompassing their southern soul/ alt-country roots with their oldest daughter Navie Clark (vocals) as an addition to the line-up of an all-ready talented collection of musicians; a Nashville favorite Jerry Hughes(Keys)and Mike Howard (Bass)as well as Chart Magazines cutest female powerhouse drummer Brittany Clark(Percussion).

Shannon and Brittany have been a touring duo for over a decade, playing music across the US and on national tours, sharing the stage with national acts such as Joan Jett, Paramore, 98 Degrees, Fun, Hello Goodbye, and many more, as well as writing and creating award-winning music for radio and film.
