Produced and arranged by Barry White in tandem with Gene Page, Tom Brock's lone LP is a minor masterpiece of lushly romantic mellow soul. And although it possesses all the hallmarks of the White aesthetic, from massive string arrangements to silky-smooth rhythms, I Love You More and More is also very much its own thing. Unlike other White protégés, Brock was a gifted songwriter in his own right, with his own unique nuances and wrinkles. White's sympathetic production celebrates their differences, wrapping around the songs like the ribbon that ties together a heart-shaped box of chocolates. Long out of print, I Love You More and More finally earned a reissue in 2003 after Jay-Z liberally sampled "There's Nothing in This World That Can Stop Me from Loving You" for his smash "Girls Girls Girls."
