This amazing RYUICHI SAKAMOTO album, « PLANKTON » was made for an installation by Shiro Takatani from Christian Sardet’s macro- and micro-photography: The music to “Plankton: A Drifting World at the Origin of Life” was composed by Japanese artist Ryuichi Sakamoto. This ambient and contemplative score immerses us in the oneiric universe and the vastness of the ocean. As a living legend in his home country, Ryuichi Sakamoto led the Yellow Magic Orchestra in the late 70’s-early 80’s and then collaborated with artists including Alva Noto, Iggy Pop, Cesária Évora, Caetono Veloso and Robert Wyatt. He also marked the world of cinema with his soundtracks for “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence”, “the Last Emperor”, “High Heels”, “Little Buddha” and this year “The Revenant” . The installation “Plankton: A Drifting World at the Origin of Life” is showed in the exhibition “The Great Animal Orchestra” at Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain from now on to January 8th 2017.
