Born in 1830, Auguste Tolbecque died in 1919. Niort Agglo and the Agesci Museum want to mark the occasion to celebrate the centenary of the disappearance of the composer and instrument maker of renown, who had chosen Niort as a city of adoption on the second part of his life. The conservatory of Niort bears his name.

One of the aspects of this tribute is the edition, for the first time, of a CD of 22 works written by Auguste Tolbècque that had never been recorded and played very little. The performance is performed by three internationally renowned musicians: Christophe Coin (cello who has indexed the scores), Jean-Luc Ayroles (on the piano) and Jan-Wilhem Jansen (on the organ). The first plays on two instruments made by Auguste Tolbecque (a viola da gamba and an experimental violoncello). The disc, recorded on several sites (including the NIort museum) will be available from Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the Agesci museum.
