2010 collection from the '60s rocker and teen idol, released to coincide with the 10th anniversary of his death. The Very Best Of Del Shannon' celebrates one of the most influential and original talents in popular music. Del Shannon was different from other stars of his generation, but there is no doubting his continued popularity or his rich musical legacy. Unusually he wrote many of his hit singles: he had 14 in Britain, including six that went Top 5 (they are all included in this compilation of hits and rarities). He was 26 years old, a real late starter, when he had his first hit, 'Runaway', a #1 in 1961 and like many of his classic recordings it featured his trademark falsetto. There followed a string of classic singles including, 'Hats Off to Larry', 'Hey! Little Girl', 'The Swiss Maid' and 'Little Town Flirt'.
