The Chocolate Watch Band - Forty Four (Reissue) (1984)

The Chocolate Watch Band were formed in San Jose in 1964. Only two of the original members remained by the time they recorded their first single in 1966. Their record company would not release the second single they recorded and it was released under a pseudonym on another label. They subsequently recorded three LPs. It was revealed later that at the insistence of their manager session musicians were used on some of the tracks on these releases. This has clouded the group's reputation to some extent but regardless of who plays on the music on the LPs they remain classic releases.
