VA - Sounds Of The Eighties 1983 (1994)

In addition to Rolling Stone-affiliated volumes and assorted condensed variations on the same theme, Time Life's Sounds of the Eighties series also spawned year-specific discs, each of which takes a fairly broad swipe at mainstream hits with little concern for stylistic cohesion. The 1983 installment features the Fixx's "One Thing Leads to Another," the Stray Cats' "(She's) Sexy + 17," Thomas Dolby's "She Blinded Me with Science," Stevie Nicks' "Stand Back," and Naked Eyes' "Always Something There to Remind Me." For whatever reason, the selections on this disc are relatively upbeat compared to the contents on the previous several volumes.
