This 1982 session is led in name by Hank Jones, but it is primarily a feature for the compositions of vibraphonist Darwin Gross. The pianist is also joined by drummer Mickey Roker, bassist Victor Gaskin, and guitarist Rodney Jones. Hank Jones' playing is exemplary, as always, especially on a lush arrangement of "A Time for Love," while Rodney Jones' acoustic guitar provides a savory introduction to "My Romance." While Gross' playing is more than adequate, his originals are at best average. Fans of Hank Jones can therefore safely bypass this release. -- Ken Dryden
