Steve Gibbons is a very important person in the old Birmingham rock. For the first time he became known in the group UGLIES, which is very appreciated by lovers of the ancient "brum-bit". UGLIES are interesting because they also included Richard Tandi, who later retired to ELO. There was also Dave Morgan, sometimes writing for THE MOVE, a friend of Carl Wayne and Jeff Lynn. In UGLIES, the bassist Trevor Burton left after THE MOVE. After UGLIES Gibbons led the legendary Birmingham supergroup BALLS, which, in addition to Burton, included such people as Denny Lane and drummer Alan White. BALLS quickly disintegrated and Gibbons joined IDLE RACE, which silently bent after Jeff Lynn's departure. When IDLE RACE finally bent, on their debris and there was STEVE GIBBONS BAND, which also moved Trevor Burton. SGB was vegetated for five years, until Pete Townshend noticed them and did not help with the contract. And if we do not consider Gibbons' almost-solo album of the year 71, these are their first albums. In the work on the album of the year 76, John Entousteel also helped.
