Das Glück blieb ihm trotzdem treu, denn er lernte Lucien Morisse, Chef einer Radiostation kennen. Morisse wurde sein Manager und brachte seine erste Single 'La poupée qui fait non' heraus. Der Song wurde unerwartet ein großer Erfolg und löste die lange Karriere Polnareffs aus. Von da an reihte sich ein Hit an den anderen. Er war in allen europäischen Charts zu finden und selbst die englische Presse lobte das neue Talent. In Deutschland bekam er 1967 den Preis für den populärsten ausländischen Interpreten. Polnareffs Texte drückten aus, was er dachte und er provozierte gern die prüde französische Gesellschaft. So auch 1972, als er für sein Konzert 'Polnarévolution' im Pariser Olympia die Stadt mit Postern pflastern ließ, die seinen nackten Hintern zeigten. Dieser Skandal kostete ihn 10 Francs Strafe pro Plakat. Seine extravaganten Brillen und seine Lebensart gaben Anlaß zu Gerüchten. Er trug sie jedoch tatsächlich nur zum Schutz seiner empfindlichen Augen und er war extrem kurzsichtig. (SWR.de)
