In the early 70s, after learning that they could no longer sell their music, the band broke up. Garnett began to appear again in feature films and television shows, usually in small roles. In subsequent years, she began to expand in the field of journalism, writing essays, columns and reviews for newspapers, including Toronto’s Globe, Mail, Village Voice and Toronto Life Magazine. Her first novel is called "Visible Amazement", and she also wrote and performed two roles in the theater of one actor in the plays "Gale Garnett & Company" and "Life After Latex".
