Brian Simpson's sixth studio album, 2015's Out of a Dream, features more of the hitmaking smooth jazz keyboardist's soulful, romantic music. His third effort for the Shanachie label, Out of a Dream follows up his previous album, 2013's Just What You Need. As with that album, on Out of a Dream Simpson brings along a bevy of top-name guest artists, including Najee, Dave Koz, Norman Brown, Grace Kelly, and others. These are atmospheric, sensual, and groove-oriented jazz and R&B-inflected songs perfectly suited for romantic evenings and laid-back social events.
