Fairfield Ski from Birmingham, one of the greatest lost British groups playing in the psych / prog style. Formed it in the early 70s, Bill Bonham (John Bonham-Led Zepp cousin). From the very beginning, the group performed its own material and was distinguished by a combination of original melodies with difficult arrangements, an abundance of keyboards. In early 1971, someone called Nigel Law Husselby, who had strong connections in the music industry, heard their music. He took over their management and organized numerous regional presentations.
After signing a contract with Birmingham Studio, the group had the opportunity to come to grips with creativity. They were given the opportunity to record a number of tracks at the legendary London studios - Abbey Road, Air London, Apple and Trident. Together, in 1973, a magnificent self-titled album was recorded - containing an incredible fusion of groups such as Five Day Rain, Octopus, Deep Purple, Procol Harum, Beatles and Appletree Theater. However, a scrupulous attitude to work played a cruel joke with them. Due to high production costs, the album remained unpublished! The group split after Nigel Wright and Bill Bonham moved to the USA. Matt Bridger and Dave Hynds stayed in the UK. They have friendly relations.
In early 2013, Dave Hynds received a message from Alex Carretero from the Spanish Record Company specializing in reissues of music from the 60s and 70s. It turns out he bought the Fairfield Ski acetate that has been preserved (one of the three!) And he needs their consent to reprint it in CD format on Guerrsen Records. Naturally consent was obtained immediately! Not only that - Fairfield Ski reunited and it seems like they started work on a new album. So it is, time will tell! In the meantime, thanks to them for giving us the opportunity to listen in 40 years of something amazing !!!
