Avant même d’en entendre la première note, on se doute évidemment ce que la bande originale de ce septième épisode de la saga Star Wars proposera. Certes, certes, mais il serait pourtant dommage de zapper cette partition de John Williams sous prétexte qu’on connait celles qu’il avait concoctées pour les six films précédents. On retrouve ici les valeurs propres au grand compositeur new-yorkais lorsqu’il se retrouve dans le contexte d’une super production (Korngold, Bruckner et Holst en tête) mais des valeurs qui ne l’empêche guère de trouver l’inspiration quand il s’agit de signer des thèmes nouveaux et des mélodies inédites. Comme quoi Williams reste un maître dont l’inspiration n’est toujours pas en berne à 80 ans passés.
