Dominik Wizjan (born in 1994) is a Polish pianist. He began playing the piano at the age of 6. During his studies in Poland, Dominik got several scholarships and won many prizes in national and international competitions (also in chamber music), among them 8th International Music Competition in Lomianki-Warsaw (2008), Chamber Music Auditions CEA in Warsaw (2011), 20th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Szafarnia (2012) and many more. In 2011 he made his debut with an orchestra in the Mieczyslaw Karlowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin. In the same year he was invited for Youth’s Chopin Interpretations festival for the most prominent young pianists. After receiving a prize on the 2nd West Pomeranian Piano Competition (2012), he got a chance to perform with a Polish-German orchestra „Pomerania” under the baton of Jacek Kraszewski.
In 2012 Dominik moved to Denmark to start the studies at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen in Amalie Malling’s piano class. This year, after two years of Master programme and collaboration with Marianna Shirinyan, Dominik graduated from RDAM. In June 2018 he got accepted to the Advanced Postgraduate Dipkloma at the same Academy.
Dominik is an active participant in various festivals, courses and masterclasses where he has worked with some renowned pianists and professors, such as Kevin Kenner, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydron, Waldemar Andrzejewski, Alberto Nose, Kazimierz Gierzod, Juhani Lagerspetz, Niklas Sivelov and many others. He has played recitals in concert halls in Poland, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Italy.
His last achievements include 1st prize at RDAM Piano Competition in Copenhagen (2017), 1st prize in the 5th International Piano Competition in San Dona di Piave, Venice (2017) and 3rd prize in the 1st International Music Festival and Competition in Yerevan, Armenia (2017).
In March 2019 Dominik is going to release his debut CD under the KNS Classical label.
