Slikback is a Kenyan DJ and Producer majoring in experimental electronic music. After joining the Boutiq Studio in Kampala in mid 2017, he began to find his sound which fuse a sonic pallette borrowing from footwork, trap, grime and a variety of contemporary underground African club styles into a uniquely accessible dark presentation. His Debut EP "Lasakaneku" was released under Hakuna Kulala (a sub-label of Nyege Tapes) in June 2018, and was well received with articles from Resident Advisor and Boomkat giving it great reviews. The ep and individual tracks have gone on to top some charts, being placed among the best electronic music of 2018 including on Pitchfork and Fact magazine. Since then, he went on to perform at NyegeNyege Festival in Uganda with one of his performances being streamed on Boiler Room. He then had an European premier at Unsound Festival in Poland. His performance there was highlighted by Resident Advisor as one of the 5 key performances of the festival. With upcoming performances at CTM Festival Berlin, Sonic Acts Festival, Amsterdam, Elevate Festival, Graz, Mutek Festival, Barcelona , Sonar Festival, Barcelona and an upcoming China tour in collaboration with Chinese label SVBKVLT. Slikback continues to create new interesting sounds and collaborate with amazing vocal talents from Kampala. He also has a new project called o g n i k i with polish producer, Morgiana Hz combining their respective worlds into one composition. His anticipated follow up ep drops called TOMO drops on the 1st February featuring six new tracks of mutant African club explorations.
