Gerry & The Pacemakers - Best Of The 60's (2000)

The Gerry & the Pacemakers entry in Dutch label Disky's series of Best of the 60's albums is an 18-track compilation containing most of the band's British and American hits of the mid-'60s, the only notable exception being their final American singles chart entry, the Top 40 hit "Girl on a Swing." The material ranges from Merseybeat favorites such as "How Do You Do It" and "It's Gonna Be Alright" to earnest ballad performances of "Ferry Cross the Mersey" and "You'll Never Walk Alone." The band did not score 18 hit singles, and the album is filled out by their covers of early rock standards such as "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Rip It Up," as well as curiosities like a cocktail jazz version of "Summertime."
