Melocos was a Spanish pop rock band from El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, formed by four young people: Jaime Terrón (vocals), Gonzalo Alcina (guitar and choirs), Andrés Ortiz (drums and choirs) and Antonio Suárez Moreno (bass ).
"Somos" is the title of this second album by Melocos, for which the group has had the production of Fernando Montesinos. A collection of songs that are announced ranging from power-pop with riffs rocanroleros to certain brit notes, going through some reggae-ska, classic construction themes, very powerful rhythms that alternate with ballads with orchestra
The album opens with "Tus pájaros", a song that reflects that pop breath that travels through the album, here with rock riffs. An exemplary theme that sets the tone of the album: rhythm, chorus of those who stick, with house-brand choirs. Afterwards, "Somos" is the first single from the album and it starts with an acoustic ballad, an urban song with an anthem vocation, string arrangements, with lyrics of a certain flavor. In "La Chica Ideal" the pace is accelerated to enter the grounds of power-pop-high-school.
With a beginning close to brit pop, it is clear that it is later offered much more melodic, with a certain atmosphere to Latin pop, a powerful rhythm. "Calles mojadas" has the fast-paced dynamic of road song, with three-voice harmonies, something very unusual in Spanish bands. For talking is the theme of the album farthest from pop and youth rock to walk the clearly melodic line song, a ballad with orchestral treatment.
The album continues with "Tú te vas". Do not cry anymore, it starts in reggae, which alternates violently with a vertiginous pop, a handling of the wha wha guitars and again the choirs. Another example of power-pop that precedes Tan lejos, an acoustic ballad with a waltz rhythm with "HaAsh" as a guest. It is the most lyrical and abandoned facet of Melocos.
"Si me quieres ayudar" ska ska but, as always in Melocos, is transformed. It is a subject with many and different changes. And to close the album keeping the tension, in "Te pido que vengas" appears Dani, from the band of "Despistaos". Rock with very Californian choirs, trumpet guitar ornaments, and lots of energy.
