To capture the musical mosaic of the Belle Époque, the period between the end of the Franco-Prussian War (1871) and the onset of World War I, on one CD (EMS-VI102) is almost an impossible task. But the selection of pieces for flute and piano, of Debussy, Gaubert, Fauré and two of his disciples in Paris, Enescu and Koechlin, will hopefully lift the veil just enough to bring the artistic dynamic of a truly unique period back to life.
