Soulfully anchored by the mesmerizing vocals of songstress Navasha Daya and the anthemic writing, arrangement and production of multi-instrumentalist Fanon Hill, Lom Nava Love is a towering testament to the strengths of Black families and their quest for true freedom in America. Prophetically titled Lom Nava Love, this 15-track explosive soundtrack and concept album masterfully touches on various genres and aspects of Black music. Lom Nava Love must not simply be listened to, but courageously engaged.

Touching on various genres and aspects of Black music, the 15 track album is held in unity by the voice of internationally renowned vocalist Navasha Daya. Daya’s ability to both navigate the myriad contours of Black music while employing improvisation in order to give her audience something beyond what is expected of the Black female vocalist corroborates this experience of Black families and weaves their resistance into every song.

“We wanted a soundtrack that transcended the boundaries of generations and reflected the day-to-day struggles and triumphs of Black families living in public housing honored in the film. From soul, to funk, to folk and beyond, we were aided in our pursuit through the use of vintage instruments, mics and studio equipment. We left subtle hisses and noise created by vintage equipment on certain tracks so as to maintain the integrity of our intent,” said Fanon Hill, Lom Nava Love's director and the writer of all the songs on the soundtrack.

Hill allowed ample space for Daya to employ the improvisational skill that has endeared her to audiences worldwide, a production ethos finely tuned to the main theme running through the album: freedom. From figures like Mavis Staples, to Mahalia Jackson, Joan Armatrading, and Phyllis Hyman, the strengths of Black women reside in Daya’s voice, an instrument whose strength parallels that of the film’s focal point, Foulks.

“I always want to use my art to uplift others and bring change, always have,” said Daya. “And so to me the lyrical content, as it relates to the documentary, as it relates to Black families, as it relates to American culture is very very important in these times, to hear this music, to hear these words. It’s a really great soundtrack for what's happening right now in society today.”
