Ralf Kleemann was brought up playing piano with both classical music and lots of jazz. Thanks to a series of fortunate coincidences, he discovered the harp, which became his instant favourite. He developed a confident musical language that understands the harp as modern and style-independent instrument.
After three years of playing the harp, Ralf Kleemann was awarded with the »Prix d´Improvisation« at the International Celtic Harp Festival (Rencontres Internationales de la Harpe Celtique) in Dinan, Brittany. Together with the three-harp-project Trio Modal he won the German Folk Promotion Award (Deutscher Folk Förderpreis).
His solo harp debut “Phrydotia” was followed by “Tides” and later “Hugs & Kisses” with many original compositions.
Other projects include works for audio plays and film score, regular assignments as studio musician with the harp, and a mobile recording studio specialising in acoustic music.
Ralf Kleemann can regularly be heard live on solo concerts or international music festivals, where he offers classes and workshops around the harp.
