No one s done more for the task of making the blues jump to classic rock life than that little ol band from Texas ZZ Top. That might sound a little disrespectful to the blues, but man, you take a ZZ Top, Little Feat, Foghat or even a Clutch, and these bands write beautiful, sturdy songs that bring forth and make breathe the sometimes difficult to assimilate intangibles of the blues... at least for us regular and rock-mad folk who crave riffs and structure and eventfulness with our heritage music.
ZZ s got all of that, plus an eye-winked sense of humorous mischief, as well as an immense wealth of firepower a bass player who can play rhythm chords at the same time, a drummer with a deft touch, and in leader Billy Gibbons, no less than what I feel is the greatest bluesman of all time, given his gorgeousness of gruff voice and his earth-quaking guitar skills working in rich, loamy tandem... track after train track.
We hope you enjoy this Tex-Mex meal of some of bluesy hard rock s most esteemed toilers and spoilers past and present giving their own respectful spin of the ol ZZ Top. And we hope to see you back for more soon, ya hear?
