Classical composer. Swiss and part-French in his lineage, Frank Martin (1890 - 1974) taught composition in Cologne, but also had a career as keyboard-player. His music has been described to be tonal (absorbing the serialism of Schoenberg) and combining "a German element with French in a musical idiom that is his own".
