Review by Cherry Red Records:
Released in 1978 and recorded at the famous Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia, as well as Blank Tape Studios and Trident Sound, HOW HIGH was produced in the main by Salsoul Records singer/songwriter Bunny Sigler with Ron Baker, Ron Tyson, Steve O' Donnell and Colin Horton Jennings also contributing to production duties . Stand out tracks include the opener, title track and single “How High” (R&B #62/Pop #105/Disco #21), a solid, funky disco groove with crisp, driving drums and percussion and great interplay between the saxophone, guitar, vibes and vocals (also represented on this release with a Larry Levan remix), My Number's Up’ and ‘I'll Keep You Warm,’ both great percussion and horn led dancers with a carnival feel, and “Resorts International,” a typically feel good Salsoul stomp. This newly remastered edition of HOW HIGH comes complete with extensive liner notes and bonus content making this BBR Remaster a must have for all Funk, Soul, Disco and Philly Soul fans out there!
