A Dossier of political crookery sets out Henry Priestman & Les Glovers new album of folk-pop protest, wry love songs & social commentary. After several years of collaboration on stage and on their mutual albums, Henry Priestman & Les Glover finally release a joint record, featuring 12 original songs, six Priestman penned & half a dozen by Glover. Henry Priestman (10 years on from leaving The Christians and embarking on a solo career, 41 years on from his first band Yachts) has recorded a brand new album, a duo album with his guitarist Les Glover, set for full release on June 22nd. The pair, having worked together live for the last 5 years promoting their respective solo albums, have now taken the next logical step and recorded a joint album together entitled Six of One and Half a Dozen of the Other . An eclectic mix, with six new songs from Les (including the poignant Tony and the uplifting country-tinged Gamble With Love ), and four new songs from Hull-born Henry (including The Ghosts of a Thousand Fishermen , inspired by Brian W Lavery s book The Headscarf Revolutionaries , about the death of Hull s fishing trade, co-written by Mark Herman, with whom Henry wrote The Christians hit Ideal World 31 years ago). Also on the album is a re-lyriced version of Henry s 1987 hit for The Christians, Forgotten Town (commissioned for Hull City of Culture 2017) now re-titled A Place They Called Forgotten Town , and a new take on Love You Love You by his late 70 s Liverpool band Yachts, featuring die-hard Yachts fan Mark Kermode (Observer Film critic/BBC5 Live radio presenter) on double bass. Other interesting guest session players include Beach Boys/Brian Wilson s multi-instrumentalist Probyn Gregory, and Graham Bottley from TV s Gogglebox!

About the Artist
In 2009, Henry Priestman (who wrote all those hits for The Christians in the 80 s, and Yachts songs in the 70 s, also early member of pop oddballs It s Immaterial) reinvented himself as a singer-songwriter, and released his debut solo CD The Chronicles of Modern Life to critical acclaim, and singles from the album (including Grey s The New Blonde ) made it onto the Radio 2 playlist. 2014 saw the release of Henry s 2nd album The Last Mad Surge of Youth, on Proper Records, which garnered Henry the best reviews he s had in 37 years of releasing records. Les Glover released his debut solo album in 2015 entitled The Love Terrorist , and has gigged relentlessly in the last few years as Henry s guitarist, and also as a solo artist supporting artists such as Nick Harper, Luke Jackson, Ian McNabb and Martin Stephenson.
