Mediavolo - A Secret Sound (2006)

The romantic sound of Mediavolo is extremely familiar. You've heard it from The Cocteau Twins. Autumn's Grey Solace explores similar sonic realm. Love Spirals Downward did as well. Add Ether Aura and An April March. There's half of nineties 4ad roster.

Of course, just because they weren't ground breakers of this kind of music doesn't stop Mediavolo from coming up with some truly spirited and beautiful passages of Dream pop. Lovingly focused on the sweet, sexy but strong vocals of Géraldine Le Cocq, the French band (actually, a duo) come up with some serene pop melodies, lush guitars and layered electronic effects to serve as launch pad for that voice to rocket into space. That said, this band is not merely satisfied making dreamy pop music. Some songs actually exhibit some rock teeth which reminds me Curve, another great band. All these bands I've mentioned should be pleased there are some really talented people carrying the torch.
