Né à Jérusalem en 1980, l'auteur-compositeur-interprète Asaf Avidan fonde les Mojos en 2006 autour de Ran Nir (basse), Yoni Sheleg (batterie), Roi Peled (guitare) et Hadas Kleinman (violoncelle) afin d'assurer sur scène la promotion de son premier maxi éponyme. Cette collaboration continuera en studio le temps de deux albums, The Reckoning (2008), Poor Boy / Lucky Man (20019) et Through the Gale (2010) avant que les divers projets solo de chacun n'aboutissent à une séparation, voyant Avidan défendre ses chansons en acoustique avant de se lancer dans un premier disque, Different Pulses, aidé par le succès du titre "One Day (Reckoning Song)" par le DJ allemand Wankelmut. Son second opus solo, Gold Shadow voit quant à lui le jour en 2015 et achève d'imposer la veine soul-folk d'Avidan.
