Phideaux - Chupacabras (2005)

Finally a Chupacabras is captured, or rather the long overdue album from progressive psychedelic project Phideaux. Released November 11, 2005, this album is third from singer Phideaux Xavier and drummer Rich Hutchins. "Chupacabras" finds them expanding their sound and stretching out with songs longer than 5 minutes. Centered around two "epic" tracks (Chupacabras-20 minutes and Ruffian On The Stairs-10 minutes) this album features beautiful cello, mellotron, flutes, and a whole host of great vocals. Chupacabras tells the story of the life of a chupacabras from the creatures point of view, much like John Gardner's "Grendel" retold the Beowulf saga through the eyes of the monster.
