French double-bass master Henri Texier has partnered some of the greatest of jazz legends over the decades, but in mid-life he developed his own evocative, north African-influenced world-jazz, often with his fine reeds-playing son, Sébastien. This new opus entitled Sand Woman, looks like a movie. A high-flying cast (special mention to drummer Gautier Garrigue, we'll talk about it again ...) and a series of scenes and landscapes that give the listener the certainty of a global scenario. Once again Admiral Texier is at the helm, like a tall and gentle helmsman, with unbroken enthusiasm, a man who sees a little further than the others, and who can guide them.
